Ghana industries welcome dramatic cut in utilities bill
Described as the best news of the year, Ghana’s industries have lauded the government’s decision to reduce electricity tariffs by 30 per cent from mid-March this year.
A statement from the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) Executive Secretary, Mami Dufie Ofori, said homes will enjoy a 17.5 per cent reduction, while those in manufacturing will get their tariffs cut by 30 per cent.
The tariff reductions are aimed at reducing the burden on consumers and production costs to make Ghanaian products more competitive.
Proposals have also been made for a review of water tariffs which, will come at a later time.
